2013 Games of the Small States of Europe

The 2013 Games of the Small States of Europe will be taking place from the 27th of May until the 1st of June. The 15th edition will be held in Luxembourg and will see ten different sport divisions contested. These are: Athletics, Basketball, Cycling, Gymnastics, Judo, Swimming, Tennis, Table Tennis, Shooting, Volleyball and Beach Volleyball. Gymnastics will feature Men and Women's Artistic Gymnastics and will be held at the Hall Belair with the Men's and Women's All Around competitions taking place on Tuesday, 28th May and the Event Finals occurring on Thursday, the 30th of May. 

Unable to find any information on if Cyprus, Malta, Monaco, or San Marino is sending any gymnasts.

Results - Alexander Dityatin Cup

Russia/Saint Petersburg Gymnasts Ekaterina Kramarenko and Elena Eremina combined to take out the Women's Team title at the Alexander Dityatin Cup on the weekend. Ukraine's Olesya Sazonova and Anastasiya Ilnytska finished in second with Dynamo/Russia's Lyubov Nosova and Polina Spirina in third.  Kramarenko won the Senior Women's All Around total over Anna Myzdrikova with Sazonova in third.  Eremina won the Junior All Around title with Brazilian Tamires da Veiga and Spirina rounding out the tip three. Fellow Saint Petersburg gymnasts Dmitry Gogotov and Vladeslav Kozin took out the Men's Team Competition with Finland's Heikki Niva and Sweden's Karl Oskar Kirmes combining to take second place. Dynamo's (Russia) Maksim Malyshkin and Alekseiy Rostov took third. Gogotov took out the Senior Men's All Around title over Armenia's Artur Davtyan and Kozin. Uzbekistan's Ostap Malnev won the Junior All Around title with Sweden's David Rumbutis and Ukraine's Maksim Kurabtsev finishing second and third respectively.

Sazonova earned the Senior Vault and Floor Exercise titles, whilst Kramarenko took out the Uneven Bars and Balance Beam honors. Gogotov took out the Senior Men's Floor Exercise, Still Rings and Parallel Bars titles, whilst Armenian Artur Davtyan earned the Vault title. Swiss Men Oliver Hegi and Pablo Braegger took out the Pommel Horse and Horizontal Bars titles respectively. The Junior Women's Finals saw four different gymnasts take out the titles. Ukraine's Anastasiya Ilnytska took out the Vault title, whilst Russians Eremina and Varvara Batalova took out the Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise titles respectively. Brazilian Tamires Da Veiga earned the Balance Beam honors. Sweden's David Rumbutis earned the Junior Men's Floor Exercise title, with Uzbekistan's Timur Kadyrov winning the Pommel Horse title. Ostap Malnev of Uzbekistan and Russian Alekseiy Shikalev both took two Event Finals titles. Malnev earned the honors on the Vault and Horizontal Bar with Shikalev topping the Still Rings and Parallel Bars.

Hambuechen, Seitz Win German AA National Titles

Elisabeth Seitz (Turngemeinschaft Mannheim) won her fourth consecutive All Around title at the German National Championships whilst Fabian Hambuechen (TSG Niedergirmes 1903) won his seventh National All Around title since 2005. Lisa Katharina Hill (MTV 1843 Stuttgart e.V.) and her team mate Kim Bui finished second and third respectively. Whilst for the Men, Andreas Toba (Turn-Klubb zu Hannover 1) finished second with Philip Sorrer (Sportclub Berlin e.V.) in third. Bui topped the Vault Qualification over Pia Tolle (MTV 1843 Stuttgart e.V.) and Michelle Timm (Sportclub Berlin e.V.), whilst on the Uneven Bars, Sophie Scheder absolutely dominated scoring 15.033, with Hill and Seitz rounding out the top three. Seitz lead the Qualification on the Balance Beam with a 0.033 lead over Scheder with Pauline Schaefer (TV Pflugscheid-Hixberg e.V.) in third. On the Floor Exercise, Bui and Seitz tied for the top marks, with Hill qualifying in third to the Event Final.

Matthias Fahrig (SV Halle e.V.) topped the Floor Exercise qualification over Hambuechen and Helge Liebrich (TV Wetzgau e.V.), whilst on the Pommel Horse, Philip Sorrer (Sportclub Berlin e.V.) earned the top score over Toba and Christopher Jursch (SC Cottbus Turnen). Marcel Nguyen (MTV 1843 Stuttgart e.V.) was the top scorer on the Still Rings with Toba and Hambuechen rounding out the top three. Fahrig also earned top marks on the Vault with Toba and Ivan Bykov of TV 1883 Bous e.V. in second and third respectively. Marcel Nguyen topped the Qualification on the Parallel Bars over Jursch and Hambuechen, with Hambuechen earning the top score on the Horizontal Bar with Jursch and Sorrer rounding out the top three. Competition continues with the first day of Event Finals today (local time).

2013 Mediterranean Games

The 2013 Mediterranean Games will be taking place from the 18th to the 30th of June in Mersin, Turkey. Over the ten days, competitors from 24 different nations will be competing in 27 different sports. In terms of Gymnastics - competition in Rhythmic Gymnastics and Artistic Gymnastics will be held. Artistic Gymnastics will be seen from the 19th to the 22nd with Rhythmic Gymnastics on the 29th and 30th. Participants can be found below as they are announced.

According to the DEFINITIVE REGISTRATIONS:

  • WOMEN'S ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS: 37 Gymnasts from 11 Nations. Of these Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Slovenia and Turkey are expected to field full teams, whilst Individual Gymnasts from Albania, Cyprus, Lebanon, Macedonia and Spain are on the Definitive Roster.
  • MEN'S ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS: 56 Gymnasts from 16 Countries. Of these Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey are expected to field full teams. Whilst Individual Gymnasts from Albania, Algeria, Croatia, Lebanon, Libya, Monaco, Syria and Tunisia are scheduled to compete.

2013 Summer Universiade

The 2013 Summer Universiade or University Games will take place in Kazan, Russia from the 6th to 17th of July. Now in its 27th edition. the event is held every second year and is organised by the International University Sports Federation or FISU. Competition in Kazan is set to boast University students from an estimated 170 nations competing in 27 sports. In terms of Gymnastics, competition will be held in Women's and Men's Artistic Gymnastics and Rhythmic Gymnastics. Artistic Gymnastics will take place from the 7th to 10th of July, whilst Rhythmic Gymnastics will take place from the 14th to 16th. I will update this list as more participants are announced.
